Little Chapel on the Boardwalk wedding photos

Photographing a Little Chapel ceremony without flash

I photographed Virginia and Conner’s ceremony at Little Chapel on the Boardwalk before their Carolina Yacht Club portraits and reception. This page focuses on the chapel: the room, the aisle, the service and the family photographs afterward.

For this wedding, the pastor and coordinator asked me not to use flash or move around during the ceremony. I photographed the processional from the aisle when permitted and stayed seated during the service. These were the arrangements for this wedding; confirm the current rules with the chapel and your officiant.

The wide chapel photograph shows the room and guests together. The closer aisle photograph records the couple within that setting. I plan for both kinds of view rather than assuming I can change position whenever I want.

An indoor chapel ceremony on Wrightsville Beach

For this wedding, the ceremony and reception took place at two separate venues. Little Chapel provided the indoor ceremony setting; the couple and wedding party traveled by trolley between the chapel and Carolina Yacht Club.

If you are planning a similar day, confirm the service time, access for your wedding party and the transport plan before deciding where portraits fit. Indoor ceremony plans and beach portraits need their own access and weather arrangements.

Is a chapel ceremony right for your day?

Little Chapel is a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregation. Discuss your ceremony and current wedding requirements directly with the chapel.

This is a different plan from exchanging vows on the sand: think about the service, where guests sit and how your wedding party enters and leaves. Confirm guest capacity, rehearsal arrangements, wedding party rooms and parking before making those details part of your timeline.

What I would agree before your ceremony

  • Photographer position: agree where I can stand for the entrances and where I should remain during the service.
  • Flash and movement: ask the officiant and coordinator together so everyone is working from the same instructions.
  • Family photographs: prepare a short group list and ask the people involved to stay nearby after the ceremony.
  • Time in the room: confirm when the space must be cleared and which groups can be photographed before leaving.
  • Reception transfer: allow time to gather people, board transport and arrive at the next venue.

In the group photograph at the front of the chapel, the room becomes part of the memory. I would prioritize those essential groups before everyone separates for the reception.

Where the rest of this wedding happened

Virginia and Conner completed their first look and portraits at the club before the chapel ceremony so they could enjoy cocktail hour afterward. Read the Carolina Yacht Club wedding story for the deck portraits, trolley transfers, reception and the timeline from this day.

The timing is an example from their wedding, not a venue requirement. We can discuss a different order around your service, guest list and priorities.
