Step-by-step guide to getting married in Miami, Florida.
Here is the simplest version of how to do it.
- Fill out the Online Marriage License Pre-Application here.
- Schedule an Appointment or Walk-in at the Marriage License Bureau
- Bring a Valid Photo ID (Driver’s License, Passport, etc.) and Social Security Number
- Pay for the Marriage License, it costs $86.
- Set up an Appointment with the Courthouse or Officiant
- Attend the ceremony with your partner and 2 witnesses
- Sign and file the marriage license
- Congrats! you’re officially married!

Florida residents: Mandatory three-day waiting period unless you attend a premarital preparation course. Present the certificate of completion to waive the waiting period and receive a discounted license fee of $61.

Once you get your marriage license, you can schedule a time with the magistrate at the courthouse.
After your ceremony
• You can request a certified copy of your marriage certificate from the Clerk’s Office for a fee. This certificate serves as proof of your marriage.
The officiant will file the signed marriage license with the Clerk’s Office to officially record your marriage.
